Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Asim Munir has emphasized Pakistan’s determination to confront a range of illegal activities and prevent economic losses during a meeting of the Sindh Provincial Apex Committee.
The gathering also featured Caretaker Chief Minister Justice (retd) Maqbool Baqar. At the meeting in Karachi, Gen Munir received briefings on various critical matters, including the revised National Action Plan, operations in the riverine areas of Sindh, the security of foreign nationals working on the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and other private projects. The discussions also encompassed the repatriation of illegal foreigners and measures related to foreign currency regulation.
The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) issued a statement highlighting the status of the Karachi Transformation Plan and initiatives under the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) in the province, which were part of the conversation.
During the meeting, Gen Munir emphasized that law enforcement agencies (LEAs) and other government departments would persist in their efforts against a broad spectrum of illegal activities to prevent the pilferage of resources and economic losses suffered by the country. The COAS also stressed the importance of synergy among all relevant departments to ensure the success of these landmark initiatives.
The participants of the meeting affirmed their commitment to the progress and prosperity of the province, demonstrating unity among state institutions, government departments, and the people.
Similar apex committee meetings were held in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab last month, where Gen Asim Munir had assured the provinces of decisive actions to eliminate substantial economic losses. In August, he had also pledged the army’s full support to the interim government’s efforts to revive the economy and steer the country toward progress and prosperity.
