The anti-corruption unit of the Sahiwal Region carried out the raids in an attempt to apprehend former members of the PTI assembly. Despite the operation, the authorities were unable to make any arrests. Additionally, the homes of other former PTI assembly members, including Rai Hassan Nawaz, Rai Murtaza Iqba, former MPA Naeem Ibrahim, and Saleem Sadiq, were also targeted in the raid.
Legal actions have been initiated against Ahmed Mujtaba Wattoo and others for their alleged involvement in causing significant financial losses to the public treasury. Rai Hassan Nawaz and Murtaza Iqbal faced accusations related to the construction of commercial structures without paying the required fees.
In a separate development, the Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) issued the release order of PTI activist Sanam Javed, who was previously granted bail in the May 9 riots case. However, despite the approval of the surety bonds, she was arrested again.
This incident follows the re-arrest of several PTI women by the Lahore police shortly after their release from Kot Lakhpat Jail on the orders of the ATC. Those arrested again included Sanam Javed, Afshan Tariq, Ashmiya Shuja, and Shah Bano. The continued legal actions and arrests underscore the ongoing legal and political turmoil within the region.
