Two teachers from a seminary in Chakwal stand accused of raping 14 of their students, shocking the community and police held both of them.
Saddar police have taken swift action, apprehending both suspects identified as Zeeshan and Anis. Following a report filed by the father of one victim at the Saddar police station, an investigation revealed that the children, as young as 14 years old, not only suffered sexual abuse but also bore physical markings allegedly inflicted by the accused.
In response to the complaint, Saddar police ensured the immediate protective custody of the affected children and detained the accused. The victims underwent medical examinations confirming injuries, with further investigations pending DNA tests to substantiate allegations of rape.
District Police Officer Captain (R) Wahid Mehmood is resolute in bringing the accused to justice, directing law enforcement to compile a strong case with essential evidence. The SHO of Saddar police station, Malik Azhar, and his team acted promptly, securing a four-day physical remand for the suspects after presenting them before the area magistrate’s court on Saturday.
Expressing condemnation, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister on Religious Affairs Allama Tahir Ashrafi deemed the incident brutal and barbaric. The Ulema Council also strongly condemned the act, emphasizing the need for a swift trial under the Anti-Terrorism Act. Ashrafi asserted that abusing children studying the Holy Quran constitutes barbarism and vowed to ensure justice is served, urging the government and judiciary to take strict action.
He reassured that the Ulema Council would vigilantly monitor the case to ensure both accused face the consequences of their actions.
Meanwhile, Caretaker Punjab Chief Minister Mohsin Naqvi has pledged his government would leave no stone unturned in providing instant justice to the victims of sexual abuse unearthed in a seminary on Friday, where as many as fifteen students were allegedly assaulted by two teachers.
CM Naqvi, who visited one of the victims’ family on Sunday, said the suspects would face the maximum punishment for the heinous crime. IGP Dr Usman Anwar, Rawalpindi Regional Police Officer Syed Khurram Ali, Commissioner Rawalpindi Division Liaquat Ali Chatha, DC Quratul Ain Malik and DPO retired captain Wahid Mehmood accompanied the CM.
