At least 12 people were killed while two doctors were injured amid repeated Israeli air strikes on the Indonesian Hospital, which is one of northern Gaza’s largest hospitals.
Staff at the hospital are appealing for urgent help from the UN and the Red Cross after Israeli forces surrounded the medical facility and bombarded the area.
The medical team revealed that the hospital was targeted overnight without prior warning, Al Jazeera reported.
Earlier, Al Jazeera’s correspondent, Safwat Kahlout, while citing witnesses, reported that “it looks like the Israeli forces are going to repeat what happened at Al Shifa Hospital. It looks like there will be an attempt to storm the Indonesian Hospital.”
The hospital’s power has been shut after its generator was hit by a strike, forcing its medics to operate on patients while using the flashlight from mobile phones, even as the bombardment continued.
Additionally, Wafa reported that Israeli artillery fire damaged the second floor of the hospital.
Aside from the estimated 150 wounded patients being treated at the hospital and about 100 medical workers, thousands of Palestinians are also sheltering at the hospital after being displaced by Israeli bombardments.
A video clip posted by Al Jazeera Arabic on X, formerly known as Twitter, shows a huge fire erupting near Gaza’s Indonesian Hospital as a string of loud explosions are heard in the background.
According to the post, Israeli forces have surrounded the Indonesian Hospital and continue to bombard the vicinity of the hospital, which has already gone out of service but is still housing Palestinians who have fled their homes.
