This win marked Australia’s seventh consecutive victory in the World Cup. Marsh, who battled cramps during his innings, hit 17 boundaries and nine sixes, leading Australia to successfully chase the 307-run target with 32 balls to spare.
This impressive innings came after Marsh had briefly returned to Perth for his grandfather’s funeral. The partnership between Marsh, David Warner (53), and Steve Smith (63*) contributed to Australia’s highest successful run chase in World Cups. Adam Zampa, with figures of 2-32, was a standout among the Australian bowlers as Bangladesh posted 306/8, with Towhid Hridoy scoring a classy 74 runs.
