Tragedy struck in Turbat, Balochistan, as at least six labourers were killed and two others injured in a devastating gun attack on Saturday morning.
The victims, who were resting inside an under-construction house, were targeted by armed assailants, resulting in a tragic loss of life and injuries, according to police sources.
The injured labourers were swiftly transported to the district headquarters hospital in Turbat for urgent medical treatment. Balochistan Chief Minister Ali Mardan Domki promptly suspended the Senior Superintendent of Police (SP) district Kech and ordered a comprehensive investigation into the incident, vowing to hold the perpetrators accountable for their heinous actions.
Expressing his condemnation, the chief minister characterized the attack as a cowardly act and asserted that the development of Balochistan would not be halted by such brutal acts. The caretaker Information Minister Balochistan, Jan Achakzai, echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the government’s responsibility to ensure the protection of every citizen and affirming that the terrorists behind the appalling attack would face justice.
In a related development, security forces carried out an intelligence-based operation in Turbat, resulting in the elimination of three terrorists and the recovery of a significant cache of arms and ammunition.
The terrorists were reportedly involved in various acts of violence against security forces and civilians, as well as the planting of improvised explosive devices along the Turbat-Hoshab Road in the Gishkore area, according to a statement issued by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR). The security forces’ decisive action underscores the ongoing efforts to maintain peace and security in the region.
