Kashmiris to observe October 27 as Black Day, rejecting Indian occupation

Kashmiris on both sides of the Line of Control and around the world will observe October 27 as “Black Day” to send a resounding message to the world, rejecting India’s illegal occupation of Jammu and Kashmir.

This date holds historical significance as it marks the invasion of Jammu and Kashmir by Indian troops in 1947, a blatant violation of the subcontinent’s Partition Plan and the aspirations of Kashmiris.

The All Parties Hurriyat Conference (APHC) has called for the observance of this day and urged a complete shutdown in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir on October 27. The APHC emphasized the importance of the international community taking practical steps to hold a plebiscite in Jammu and Kashmir in accordance with UN Security Council resolutions, enabling the Kashmiri people to exercise their right to self-determination.

Mehmood Ahmed Saghar, the APHC-AJK Convener, stated that India’s refusal to withdraw its troops from the occupied territory has obstructed the implementation of the plebiscite. Kashmiris continue to seek justice and the realization of their right to self-determination.
