The joyous mehndi ceremony of Shaheen Afridi and Ansha Shahid, daughter of former national cricket team captain Shahid Afridi, illuminated Karachi on Monday night as the pre-wedding celebrations unfolded. The event took place at Shahid Afridi’s residence in Karachi, bringing together close relatives and dear friends to celebrate the union of the couple.

Shaheen Afridi, the groom, was also present at the colorful ceremony, accompanied by his family members. The rukhsati (seeing off) ceremony of the couple is scheduled for the following day.

The couple had their nikah (Islamic marriage ceremony) earlier this year, with Maulana Abdul Sattar officiating the ceremony at the Zakaria Mosque in February. Following the nikah, a reception was held, attended by prominent cricketers such as Babar Azam, Sarfaraz Ahmed, Naseem Shah, and Shadab Khan. Squash legend Jahangir Khan graced the occasion as well.

Distinguished guests, including Asim Bajwa, former Director-General of the Inter-Services Public Relations, and Wasim Khan, General Manager of the International Cricket Council, added to the festivities.

Shaheen Afridi and Ansha Shahid’s engagement had taken place two years ago. The Valima ceremony is scheduled for September 21 in the federal capital.

Speaking about their relationship, Shaheen Afridi shared that it was he who first considered marrying Ansha. He mentioned that their families had known each other for a long time, and it was his mother who initiated the proposal.

When asked about their first meeting, Shaheen explained that there wasn’t a specific “first meet-up” since they had known each other for a while. He expressed his gratitude for having a life partner who appreciates and supports him.

The mehndi ceremony marked another milestone in the couple’s journey toward matrimony, bringing happiness and festivity to their loved ones in Karachi.
