In a significant announcement, UAE Vice-President His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum has revealed plans to recruit a Youth Minister in his cabinet. The Ruler of Dubai expressed his desire to appoint a distinguished young individual who would serve as a representative of the youth and actively address issues of interest to this demographic profile.
Sheikh Mohammed emphasized the qualities he seeks in the prospective Youth Minister, stating, “We want the person to be knowledgeable about the UAE; be brave and strong in representing his country, and passionate about serving the homeland.” He made this announcement through a post on X (formerly Twitter).
He further encouraged competent, capable, and honest youth to submit their applications for the Minister of Youth position to the Ministry of Cabinet Affairs via email at [email protected].
It’s worth noting that the UAE has a history of valuing youth representation in its government. In 2016, Shamma bint Sohail Faris Al Mazrui was appointed as the Minister of State for Youth Affairs at the age of 22, becoming the world’s youngest minister at the time. Her selection was made from a pool of young individuals nominated by universities across the country, highlighting the nation’s commitment to empowering and involving its youth in leadership roles.
