Despite reducing light diesel by Rs3.40 and kerosene oil by Rs3.82 per litre, the caretaker government maintained the petrol price at Rs283.38 per litre.
The Ministry of Finance’s notification confirmed the rates, valid until November 15, while enforcing zero general sales tax on all petroleum products. Additionally, the petroleum levy on petrol stands at Rs60 per litre.
Previously, the government had decreased petrol and HSD prices by Rs40 and Rs15 per litre, respectively.
In a separate move, the federal cabinet increased natural gas tariffs significantly to tackle the sector’s mounting circular debt, currently at Rs2.1 trillion. This decision will take effect from November 1, impacting various sectors.
Additionally, the Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (Ogra) announced a reduction in the rates of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) for November. The regulator’s notification indicated a drop of Rs9.69 per kg, resulting in a corresponding reduction in domestic cylinder prices.
