Asif Ali Zardari, co-chairman of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), conveyed a hint that elections are on the horizon and emphasized his unwavering commitment to his homeland during an address at a dinner gathering in the Dariya Khan Marri village.
Zardari, born on this very land, affirmed his dedication to the development of his homeland, stating, “I was born on this land, and I will continue to strive for the development of this land.”
He described himself as the son of the soil and pledged to make ongoing efforts for its betterment. Zardari highlighted the PPP’s history of service to the people and the unrelenting support of its workers.
The former president stressed that he had served the people throughout his life, and his actions were not concealed from anyone. He claimed to have provided Pashtuns with a distinct identity and credited the 18th Amendment with granting provinces their unique recognition.
Zardari underlined the sacrifices of ZA Bhutto and Benazir Bhutto and the significance of the 18th Amendment in shaping the country’s identity. He affirmed his dedication to serving the people of Sindh and suggested a generational commitment to their welfare.
In a separate development, Maulana Fazlur Rehman, chief of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F), called for elections to be conducted in November instead of January. He expressed concerns about snowfall in certain regions in January and its potential impact on voter participation.
Fazlur Rehman argued that, according to the Constitution, elections must be held within 90 days, suggesting that a November timeframe for elections would be more suitable.
He criticized the PTI’s agenda as detrimental to Pakistan and alleged that the party assumed power through extensive rigging in the 2018 elections, leading to the country’s current predicaments.
