Former Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) chief, Bashir Memon, formally became a member of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) on Friday, marking a significant development in the political landscape.

PML-N’s Chief Organiser, Maryam Nawaz, issued a notification appointing Memon as the convener of the Sindh committee responsible for organizing the reception for Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, a move that has generated considerable attention within political circles.

The official appointment of Bashir Memon as the convener of the reception committee in Sindh for Mian Nawaz Sharif was confirmed through a notification issued by Maryam Nawaz herself, signaling the party’s intentions ahead of the upcoming political activities.

In a press conference held in Karachi, PML-N senior leader Mohammad Zubair expressed the party’s fervent desire to see Nawaz Sharif return as the country’s premier for the fourth time.

He made it clear that Nawaz Sharif’s anticipated return to Pakistan is scheduled for October 21, and he emphasized the party’s commitment to resume the development journey that, in his view, ended in 2017.

Reflecting on Nawaz Sharif’s previous terms as the country’s premier, Zubair lamented his ousting and stated, “Nawaz Sharif, who was voted to power as the country’s premier three times, was ousted.”

Taking a swipe at the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), Zubair criticized their governance in Sindh, calling it a “flop show.” He announced the PML-N’s determination to contest against the PPP with great enthusiasm.

Zubair also criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief, asserting that it was detrimental for the country to witness the PTI chief serving as the prime minister.

Former finance minister Ishaq Dar, during a media interaction in London following a Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) gathering, highlighted the party’s mission to elevate Pakistan’s ranking to the 24th largest economy globally.

Dar confidently confirmed the completion of consultations regarding PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif’s return to the country and stated, “Nawaz Sharif’s leadership, aligned with the party’s transparent manifesto, will steer the country towards progress.”

Dar also mentioned that international and certain internal entities had attempted to draw parallels between Pakistan’s economic trajectory and that of Sri Lanka. However, he asserted that their concerted efforts were thwarted, hinting at the party’s determination to safeguard the country’s economic interests.
