PP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari appealed to PTI workers on Sunday, urging their support in the upcoming general election. With his younger sister Aseefa by his side, Bilawal pledged to bury the “politics of revenge” that he claims to have experienced under the PML-N’s rule.
Addressing a public meeting in Lahore, Bilawal emphasized his opposition to the politics of oppression, asserting that imprisoning women from rival parties was not a form of legitimate political practice. He positioned the upcoming elections as a direct contest between the PML-N and the PPP, urging PTI workers to align with the latter for a more inclusive and positive political landscape.
Bilawal extended an open invitation to PML-N workers, assuring them of respect for their votes and promising to address their concerns. He highlighted his commitment to uniting the country by eradicating divisive politics and hatred, emphasizing a belief in consensus-building.
The PPP leader criticized veteran politicians, arguing against handing over the country’s reins to those who, in his view, repeatedly failed to fulfill promises. Bilawal pledged to provide the youth with opportunities, proposing a “youth card” to facilitate job acquisition and training in modern technology.
In addressing economic concerns, Bilawal proposed shutting down 17 ministries to save Rs300 billion and redirecting Rs1.5 trillion in subsidies towards deserving individuals rather than the affluent. He promised to double the income of the common man and asserted that, with the PPP in power, the goal of constructing three million houses could be achieved.
Following the rally, Bilawal took to X (formerly Twitter) to express his commitment to ending the politics of revenge, division, and hate. He urged voters to choose a new way of politics and called for support for the ‘arrow’ – the PPP symbol – on February 8 for a better tomorrow.
