Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Yahya Afridi has stated that Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founder Imran Khan’s request falls under Article 184(3) of the Constitution. As a result, the matter has been forwarded to the judges’ constitutional committee for review and will be addressed by the constitutional bench.

Speaking to journalists in Islamabad, CJP Afridi confirmed that the decision to refer the plea was made a day earlier. “I have asked the committee to review the letter and make a decision,” he said, clarifying that the committee will determine the course of action as per constitutional provisions.

The CJP’s remarks came after his meeting with a six-member delegation from the International Monetary Fund (IMF) at the Supreme Court. The discussion primarily revolved around judicial reforms, governance, and property rights protection as part of Pakistan’s ongoing $7 billion bailout program.
