As Islamabad prepares for upcoming elections, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has finalized a comprehensive plan to facilitate a transparent and inclusive voting environment. The plan outlines the establishment of 990 polling stations across three constituencies, catering to a registered voter base exceeding 1 million.
The federal capital will be divided into three distinct constituencies: NA 46, NA 47, and NA 48. The breakdown of each constituency’s specifics, including population distribution, the count of registered voters, proposed polling stations, and the deployment of election personnel, is intricately detailed in the ECP’s plan.
Demographic statistics highlight that Islamabad’s overall population is estimated at 2.36 million, with a significant subset represented by the registered voters totaling 1.83 million. To accommodate this electorate, a network of 1096 polling booths is slated for construction.
To ensure the smooth conduct of the electoral process, the ECP plans to appoint a cadre of officials, including 1,040 presiding officers, 3,251 assistant presiding officers, and an equivalent number of polling officers. Additionally, 1,400 senior assistant polling officers will be deployed across the three constituencies, emphasizing the commitment to uphold the integrity and efficiency of the electoral proceedings.
