CALIFORNINA: In a response to competition from X (formerly Twitter), Threads, the social networking platform introduced by Meta, is currently developing a new feature which will empower users to delete their Threads account while preserving their Instagram account.
Threads, launched in July, made waves in the social media landscape, rapidly amassing 100 million accounts and outpacing Chat GTB. Accessible to individuals with existing Instagram accounts, Threads streamlined the account creation process, requiring just a single click.
The integration with Instagram made it remarkably convenient for Instagram users to establish a Threads account with minimal effort.
However, the tie-in with Instagram presented a limitation – users could not delete their Threads account independently of their Instagram account. Meta, the parent company of Facebook and Instagram, aims to address this issue with potential changes expected to roll out by year-end.
Reports suggest that the Threads team is actively working to introduce a standalone account deletion feature by December. In the interim, users have the option to temporarily deactivate their Threads account, adjust privacy settings, or permanently delete their account.
Analytical agencies predict that by year-end, Threads will have 237 million active users in the United States. In comparison, rival platform X is forecasted to boast 561 million active American users. The competition between these platforms is intensifying as they seek to capture a significant share of the social networking market.
