As anticipation builds for the T20 World Cup 2024, sources indicate that the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is on the brink of unveiling the Green Shirts’ squad for the prestigious tournament.

The board is expected to disclose the squad for Pakistan’s national team tour to Ireland and England in May within the next few days, with an 18-member team slated for announcement, according to insider reports.

This development follows New Zealand’s recent announcement of their 16-member squad for the T20 World Cup.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has set a deadline of May 1 for teams to submit their squads for the mega-event, commencing in June, with a window for changes until May 25, subject to ICC approval.

Ahead of their departure for Ireland on May 7, the PCB is also considering a brief training camp for the national team.

The Green Shirts are scheduled to engage in three T20Is against Ireland before facing off against England in a four-match T20I series. Subsequently, they will head to the United States for the World Cup.

Significantly, Pakistan’s team management has recently undergone substantial changes, with Gary Kirsten from South Africa appointed as the white-ball coach and Australia’s Jason Gillespie as the red-ball coach. Former cricketer Azhar Mahmood will serve as the assistant coach for both formats.
