Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) enthusiasts erupted in celebration as unofficial results from the April 21 by-elections showcased the party’s dominance, securing numerous National and provincial assembly seats.
According to preliminary results, PML-N clinched two out of five National Assembly seats and emerged victorious in 10 out of the 16 provincial assembly constituencies. The party’s triumph marked a significant electoral success, bolstering its representation in both legislative bodies.
In a notable upset, independent candidate Mubarak Zeb, sibling of the late Rehan Zeb, emerged victorious in the NA-8 Bajaur constituency, dealing a blow to the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) by defeating its nominee Gul Zafar Khan. Zeb also secured victory in the provincial PK-22 seat, further consolidating his electoral triumph.
In Punjab, PML-N retained the NA-119 seat vacated by Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, with Ali Pervazi Malik securing victory over his rivals. The ruling party also clinched success in NA-132 Kasur, where Malik Rasheed Ahmed Khan emerged victorious, continuing the party’s electoral dominance in the province.
The provincial assembly by-polls witnessed PML-N’s resounding victory across various constituencies, including PP-164 Lahore, PP-139 Sheikhupura, and PP-54 Narowal. Notable wins also include PP-147 Lahore, PP-149 Lahore, and PP-158 Lahore, showcasing the party’s widespread electoral appeal.
Additionally, PML-N secured victories in constituencies such as PP-22 Chakwal-cum-Talagang, PP-266 Rahim Yar Khan, and PP-290 Dera Ghazi Khan, further solidifying its position in the provincial assemblies.
Amidst the electoral triumph, PML-N’s success reverberated in Balochistan, with Muhammad Zareen Khan Magsi securing victory in the PB-22 Lasbela constituency. The party’s triumph underscored its growing influence across diverse regions of the country.
As PML-N supporters celebrated the party’s electoral victories, the results reflected a significant political resurgence for the party, reaffirming its position as a formidable political force in Pakistan’s electoral landscape.
