The Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) reported the alleged recovery of Rs4.1 million from the residence of PTI President Parvez Elahi. However, Elahi’s counsel disputed the claim, calling it a “bogus recovery.”
Elahi was arrested by the ACE last month on charges related to the illegal appointment of Muhammad Khan Bhatti as his principal secretary during his tenure as the chief minister. He has faced multiple arrests in various cases over recent months.
During the court hearing before Judicial Magistrate Imran Abid, the investigating officer from ACE, Muhammad Sabtain, asserted that the money was retrieved from Elahi’s bedroom during a search at his residence on Zahoor Elahi Road. Elahi countered these claims, stating that he had been in jail and unaware of any recovery.
Elahi accused the raiding officers of having ulterior motives and seeking to secure their own positions. Despite his denial, the court granted a two-day extension in Elahi’s physical remand and instructed authorities to ensure his appearance on Monday.
