Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) teams have disconnected 7,187 gas connections, including 7,144 domestic and 43 commercial connections, in various operations carried out from September 8 to the present in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. These disconnections were a result of gas pilferage and other violations.
According to an SNGPL spokesperson, heavy fines totaling Rs55.2 million have been imposed on those found guilty of gas pilferage and other infractions. A complete breakdown of these disconnections by region is expected to be provided by the company.
In a press release from SNGPL, it was reported that several connections were disconnected for illegal gas use in various regions. FIRs were lodged against gas thieves, and culprits were arrested. Additionally, fines were imposed as penalties for gas theft.
SNGPL continues to take stringent measures against gas pilferage and unauthorized use of gas connections to ensure the fair distribution of resources and the prevention of unlawful practices in the supply of natural gas.
