The special court has officially scheduled the indictment of former Prime Minister Imran Khan and ex-Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi in the cipher case for October 17.
This case revolves around a diplomatic document that reportedly went missing from Imran Khan’s possession, with the PTI alleging that it contained a threat from the United States aimed at removing the party chairman from office.
Imran Khan’s legal journey in this case began when he was transferred to Attock jail on August 5, 2023, following a court sentencing him to three years in prison in the Toshakhana graft case. Subsequently, upon the suspension of his sentence, it was revealed that he had been placed under judicial remand in connection with the cipher case.
On September 26, both PTI leaders, Imran Khan and Shah Mahmood Qureshi, had their judicial remand extended until October 10. In accordance with the orders of the Islamabad High Court, Imran Khan was relocated from Attock district jail to Rawalpindi’s Adiala jail.
