Bollywood’s legendary figure Amitabh Bachchan, who recently turned 81, opened up about his personal life during an interview on the show Starry Nights with host Komal Nahta. Discussing his toughest critic at home, the megastar swiftly pointed to his wife of 50 years, Jaya Bachchan.

Recounting instances when Jaya critiqued his film choices and even walked out of his trial auditions, Amitabh shared candid insights into their dynamic. “Jaya is incredibly instinctive. Her instinct when she chose me was absolutely right,” the actor confessed during the interview, highlighting Jaya’s impeccable judgment in various aspects.

Despite their enduring bond, Amitabh jokingly admitted to sometimes being fearful of his wife, emphasizing that he prefers to reach home straight from work to avoid any potential disagreements. Their relationship, marked by both strictness and leniency, has solidified their enduring partnership over the decades.

The couple, known for their iconic on-screen chemistry, first met on the sets of the 1971 film Guddi and subsequently tied the knot on June 3, 1979. Their relationship has been reflected in their performances, notably in films such as Abhimaan and Silsila, where their real-life dynamics added depth and authenticity to their characters’ portrayal.
