A significant number of Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) workers have assembled in Islamabad to participate in the ‘Storm Al-Aqsa Million March,’ which is scheduled to take place from Faizabad to the Constitution Avenue. The TLP announced this march last month, set for November 5, to demonstrate solidarity with the people of Palestine.
Under the Faizabad bridge on the Express Highway, a large group of TLP workers gathered, with many displaying Palestinian flags, while others arrived in cars and buses.
In response, the local administration and police have entirely sealed off the Red Zone of Islamabad. Access to the Red Zone has been blocked by the placement of containers, and the roads leading from Ayub Chowk, Express Chowk, and Nadra Chowk have been closed.
Approximately 3,000 police personnel have been deployed around the Red Zone, in addition to the deployment of anti-riot and Frontier Constabulary (FC) personnel along the routes leading to the high-security area.
During the November 1 hearing of appeals against the Supreme Court’s judgment on the Faizabad sit-in case, Chief Justice of Pakistan Qazi Faez Isa, along with two other justices, had instructed the election commission’s lawyer not to use the prefix “hafiz” for the TLP workers involved in the Faizabad sit-in. The commission’s implementation report on the Faizabad sit-in case was also rejected by the chief justice, which had exonerated the TLP from allegations of being anti-state or receiving foreign funds. The scrutiny of the TLP’s foreign funds indicated that the party had received money from abroad, as per the report.
