PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari proclaimed that he faces no political rivals, asserting that “neither any player nor anyone else” can compete with him in politics.
Speaking at a Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) rally in Kohat district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Bilawal took subtle swipes at his political opponents, suggesting that they contest elections for personal gains. Contrasting this, he declared that he enters elections to address the issues faced by the masses.
“Some are fighting elections to get out of jail, while others are fighting to escape from jail,” Bilawal remarked, alluding to the motivations of his political adversaries.
Emphasizing the PPP’s commitment to representing the working class and the poor, Bilawal vowed to move away from traditional divisive politics and initiate a politics aimed at serving the masses.
Expressing optimism about the upcoming general elections scheduled for February 8, 2023, Bilawal stated his confidence in forming the government and ensuring that the rights of the masses are upheld.
Addressing security concerns in holding party conventions in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Bilawal commended the courage of PPP workers, stating that they are neither scared nor willing to surrender to terrorism.
Highlighting the PPP’s stance on the 18th Amendment, Bilawal accused Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) of seeking to curtail the autonomy of provinces.
The rally was part of Bilawal’s election campaign leading up to the general elections. The political atmosphere in the country has intensified since the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) announced the February 8 election date following the Supreme Court’s intervention.
Bilawal also addressed the longstanding issue of the death sentence awarded to PPP founder Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, expressing hope that the truth behind the controversial trial would be revealed. The Supreme Court is scheduled to revisit the 12-year-old presidential reference on the matter next week.
