Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani of Pakistan has expressed strong solidarity with Palestine in the face of Israeli oppression and has called for the international community to intervene to protect Palestinian civilians.
The recent escalation in the Middle East has resulted in more than 300 Palestinians losing their lives after Israel launched retaliatory air strikes in the Gaza Strip. This escalation followed Hamas’s operation “Al-Aqsa Storm,” during which approximately 5,000 rockets were launched into Israel from Gaza, accompanied by gunmen infiltrating areas in the southern region of the country.
Minister Jilani expressed deep concern over the volatile situation and the tragic loss of innocent Palestinian lives. In a statement posted on his official social media account, he said, “Pakistan is deeply concerned by the escalating hostility in the Middle East and the loss of innocent lives. We stand in solidarity with Palestinians and call for an immediate end to the violence and oppression by Israeli occupation forces.”
Additionally, the caretaker minister called for the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders and in accordance with United Nations (UN) resolutions. This call reflects Pakistan’s long-standing support for the Palestinian cause and its commitment to a peaceful resolution of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict.
Minister Jilani’s statements underscore Pakistan’s position as a vocal advocate for Palestinian rights on the international stage and its call for a peaceful and just resolution to the ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
