The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) initiated consultations on its proposed code of conduct for the forthcoming general elections, in line with Section 233 of the Elections Act, 2017.
During the meeting, chaired by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, representatives from various political parties actively participated, providing feedback on the draft code and suggesting amendments.
“The proposals were reviewed by the ECP, assuring appropriate amendments based on feedback,” said the statement.
The ECP has committed to rigorously enforce the final code during the upcoming general elections, prioritizing a free and equitable electoral process.
The meeting witnessed participation from prominent political parties, including PML-N, PPP, PTI, JI, ANP, MQM, BAP, and TLP.

The ECP is prepared to issue a production order for the detained PTI Chairman Imran Khan, currently held in Adiala jail due to a cypher case.
The electoral watchdog has directed PTI lawyer Shoaib Shaheen to respond to the contempt case show-cause notice, following which the ECP will issue the necessary production order.
An ECP panel, led by Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja, chaired the contempt case discussions and deliberated on framing charges against the former prime minister, adjourning the case until October 24.
In response to the ECP’s actions, the PTI rejected the move, branding it “unconstitutional” and an “attempt to sideline Imran from politics.”
The party alleged that the decision to issue a production order against Imran Khan was an act of revenge aimed at removing him from the political landscape and undermining democracy.
