The Additional Secretary of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), Aun Chaudhry, clarified that his meeting with the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif at the Allama Iqbal International Airport was conducted in a personal capacity and was not politically motivated.
Chaudhry emphasized the existence of personal relationships outside the realm of politics, mentioning his prior involvement with Shehbaz Sharif’s cabinet for a considerable period.
In response to the concerns raised by the Jahangir Khan Tareen-led IPP, Chaudhry stated that he had already communicated his position to the party leadership. He had previously resigned from his position as the special adviser to the Punjab chief minister in support of Tareen, following his confrontation with the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan over a sugar scam.
Nawaz Sharif’s recent visit to Pakistan included a brief stop in Islamabad, during which he filed appeals against his convictions before heading to Lahore to begin his party’s campaign for the upcoming elections. Addressing a large gathering of his supporters, Nawaz expressed his lack of interest in seeking retribution against his political adversaries, while also calling upon all constitutional institutions to collaborate for the country’s progress and development.
