As the election fervor intensifies, major political parties such as Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) and PML-N escalate their campaign efforts. Party leaders, including Nawaz Sharif, are taking charge of their election campaigns, vying for the support of the nation’s 240 million citizens who will choose their representatives next month.
Addressing a rally in Mansehra, where Nawaz Sharif is contesting on NA-15, the three-time prime minister highlighted that Pakistan has lagged behind globally and stressed the imperative of “rebuilding” the country.
Reflecting on his previous tenure, Nawaz Sharif emphasized that his government not only pegged the dollar at 104 against the Pakistani rupee but also successfully “eliminated” load shedding from the nation.
In a veiled attack on Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and its founder Imran Khan, PML-N’s arch-foe, Nawaz Sharif expressed disappointment that the people of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) voted for this “liar.”
Recalling the 2013 elections, Nawaz Sharif revealed that JUI-F chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman proposed forming a coalition government in KP, but he chose to respect PTI’s right to govern based on their numerical strength.
Taking a swipe at PTI’s 10-year rule in KP, Nawaz Sharif questioned their accomplishments, accusing them of ruining the province. He pledged to address rampant inflation and promised job creation if his government is elected. Furthermore, he assured that Mansehra would have its own airport, and efforts would be made to establish universities and colleges in the region.
