Cricket and flag football are set to make a historic appearance at the 2028 Los Angeles Games, among other new sports approved by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) during a meeting in Mumbai.

The addition of lacrosse, squash, and baseball-softball is poised to bring a dynamic element to the event. These inclusions align with the IOC’s strategy to engage diverse global audiences and foster growth in the Olympic movement.

Cricket’s return, with a proposed six-team Twenty20 format for both men and women, marks a significant milestone, tapping into its vast global fan base of approximately 2.5 billion people. The IOC anticipates these new sports will enhance the appeal of the Olympics and encourage participation across different demographics.
