In the ongoing Israel-Hamas conflict, Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani expressed strong condemnation on Sunday, equating Israel’s airstrikes on Gaza and the siege of the territory to genocide against the Palestinian people.
Jilani, addressing a press conference in Islamabad, announced Pakistan’s active participation in the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation’s emergency meeting in Jeddah on October 18. Pakistan’s consistent position advocates respect for UN resolutions recognizing Palestinian self-determination.
He emphasized the need to recognize Palestine as a separate state with pre-1967 borders and Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital. The minister called for immediate humanitarian assistance for Gaza, highlighting Pakistan’s readiness to provide aid.
Amid the escalating conflict, Jilani affirmed Pakistan’s unaltered stance on Israel, insisting that the Palestinian people must be granted the right of self-determination.
In addition to the Gaza crisis, Jilani also discussed Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar’s forthcoming visit to China for the third Belt and Road Forum (BRF). Kakar is scheduled to hold meetings with the Chinese leadership and key business figures to bolster bilateral ties and review the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
