Maryam Nawaz, Senior Vice President and Chief Organiser of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), criticized the five-member Supreme Court bench that disqualified her father, Nawaz Sharif, blaming them for recent inflation and economic turmoil

Speaking at a political gathering in Lahore, Maryam Nawaz, she also reaffirmed Nawaz Sharif’s planned homecoming on October 21. She took a jibe at the Supreme Court bench that disqualified Nawaz Sharif on Iqama issue. Without naming the judges, she attributed recent inflation and economic difficulties to their decision. She stated that their actions had taken away people’s capacity to make ends meet, and people were struggling to afford basic necessities.

Maryam Nawaz asserted that the five-member bench and Prime Minister Imran Khan were responsible for the economic challenges faced by the people, including difficulties in paying electricity bills. She criticized the bench’s role in creating an environment of economic hardship.

Maryam Nawaz compared the economic performance of Nawaz Sharif’s government with the current situation. She highlighted that during her father’s four-year tenure, the US dollar remained below the Rs100 mark. She mentioned the significant reduction in load shedding and an increase in the country’s growth rate during Nawaz Sharif’s tenure.

The PML-N leader claimed that conspirators targeted Pakistan’s development and growth when they conspired to disqualify Nawaz Sharif over an “iqama” (work permit). She suggested that the country’s progress was derailed following his disqualification.

Maryam Nawaz reaffirmed her father’s planned return to Pakistan on October 21, emphasizing that there was no change in this plan.
