– The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is rallying its party workers and supporters to extend a grand welcome to their supreme leader, Nawaz Sharif, upon his arrival in Lahore on Saturday. After four years in self-imposed exile in the United Kingdom, Mr. Nawaz is set to return to his homeland.
Reports indicate that the party has gone to great lengths to make this return memorable. Two aircraft have been arranged to shower rose petals in Lahore as a gesture of celebration upon his arrival.
Nawaz Sharif has recently landed in Dubai from Jeddah and is scheduled to travel to Pakistan in a charter plane on Saturday. His return has generated considerable anticipation and excitement among his party members and supporters.
At the launching ceremony of a new anthem in connection with Nawaz Sharif’s homecoming, former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif urged the party’s leaders and workers not to disappoint and to give his elder brother a “historic reception.” He expressed confidence that Nawaz Sharif’s return would put the country on the path to progress.
PML-N chief organizer, Maryam Nawaz Sharif, commended her uncle, Shehbaz, for steadfastly supporting her father during challenging times. She emphasized that many forces had attempted to politically eliminate Nawaz Sharif, but they had ultimately failed.
Upon his arrival, Nawaz Sharif is expected to land in Islamabad and then proceed to Lahore, where he is slated to address a rally at the historic Minar-i-Pakistan ground, according to party leader Attaullah Tarar.
In a symbolic gesture of celebration, the PML-N has secured the services of two small aircraft to shower rose petals over Lahore for three and a half hours on Saturday, from 3:00 pm to 6:30 pm. The Civil Aviation Authority has granted permission to a private company to carry out this aerial display.
In a recent development, the Islamabad High Court has granted protective bail to Nawaz Sharif in the Avenfield and Al-Azizia cases, extending until October 24. This decision has sparked reactions from political opponents, with PTI leader and former federal minister Moonis Elahi referring to Nawaz Sharif as the “new ladla” (favorite).
“Today, the one who was calling someone else [Imran Khan] ladla [favorite] has now become ladla. Nawaz Sharif, a proclaimed offender and a convict, has got permission to roam around in the country… but let me tell you neither offering of motorbikes nor paradise pass will help them as the people have rejected him and his party,” Mr. Elahi wrote. The political landscape remains charged as Pakistan awaits the much-anticipated return of Nawaz Sharif.
