The Swabi Education Department has taken disciplinary action against nine female teachers who refused to participate in the recent anti-polio campaign despite being trained for the task.

These teachers have been suspended, and further disciplinary measures are being initiated. According to the Swabi Education Department, female teachers across the Swabi district had undergone training to administer polio drops as part of the ongoing efforts to eradicate the crippling disease. However, despite receiving the necessary training, nine teachers failed to fulfill their duty during the anti-polio campaign.

In response to their absence and non-cooperation, authorities have taken the step to suspend these teachers, sending a strong message about the significance of active participation in public health initiatives.

Of the nine female teachers facing suspension and disciplinary action, seven are associated with government schools in Razar Tehsil, while the remaining two are from Topi Tehsil.

It is noteworthy that the Swabi Education Department has proactively prepared teachers for their roles in the polio vaccination drive by providing them with the essential training, underscoring the importance of their involvement in the critical campaign to combat polio.
