Authorities in Sindh have intensified flood monitoring as the Indus River continues to swell at major barrages across Sindh and Punjab, raising concerns of potential flooding in low-lying areas.
According to the Sindh Information Department, water levels at Guddu Barrage were recorded with an inflow of 342,153 cusecs and an outflow of 310,408 cusecs on Friday. At Sukkur Barrage, inflow stood at 331,230 cusecs against an outflow of 275,850 cusecs, while Kotri Barrage measured an inflow of 247,186 cusecs and an outflow of 209,431 cusecs.
Meanwhile, in Punjab, the situation remains critical as floodwaters continue to surge. At Head Panjnad, inflow was registered at 227,710 cusecs, with an outflow of 213,740 cusecs, posing risks to downstream settlements.
Officials have warned residents in vulnerable areas to remain cautious and follow safety advisories as the Indus River system remains under pressure from heavy inflows. Relief and rescue teams have been placed on high alert to deal with any emergency situation.
