Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar is set to participate in the “Third Belt and Road Forum (BRF) for International Cooperation” in Beijing from October 17 to 18, where he will engage in a one-on-one meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.
According to a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter) by the Prime Minister’s Office, PM Kakar will attend the opening ceremony of the BRF and deliver a keynote address at the high-level forum themed ‘Connectivity in an Open Global Economy’.
During the visit, PM Kakar is scheduled to discuss potential joint ventures with Chinese companies, with several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) expected to be signed across various sectors, including agriculture, health, industry, green energy, and space technology cooperation.
Caretaker Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jillani, in a statement earlier today (Sunday), emphasized that the visit would reinforce the robust bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and China, known as “Iron Brothers,” fostering stronger ties between the two nations.
Jillani further highlighted that the trip would encompass a review of the complete spectrum of cooperation between Pakistan and China, particularly the strategic collaboration under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the Belt and Road Initiative.
The Foreign Minister also mentioned the upcoming visit to the Xingjian region, which borders Pakistan and eight other countries, aiming to promote greater economic and regional cooperation.
Acknowledging the success of the first phase of the CPEC, the Foreign Minister emphasized the need for continued collaboration in the industrial, technological, and agricultural sectors, reinforcing the deep-rooted economic partnership between the two countries.
China is gearing up for its third Belt and Road Forum, scheduled to take place in Beijing from October 17 to 18, as confirmed by the Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Hua Chunying. The event will mark the 10-year anniversary of the Belt and Road initiative, with various global leaders and international organizations expected to be in attendance. Russian President Vladimir Putin has also confirmed his participation in the event. According to a recent white paper released by Beijing, the Belt and Road initiative has generated an estimated two trillion dollars in contracts globally, representing a significant milestone in international economic cooperation.
