Pakistani students, along with peers from various countries, are gearing up to participate in the “7th Belt and Road Teenager Maker Camp and Teacher Workshop” organized by the Children and Youth Science Center (CYSC) of the China Association for Science and Technology (CAST). The event will take place in the cities of Ningxia and Chongqing, China, this coming November.

This international event is co-organized by the Ministry of Science and Technology, People’s Republic of China (MOST), and enjoys support from the ECO Science Foundation (ECOSF) in Pakistan, the InterAcademy Partnership Science Education Program (IAP SEP), and the Network of African Science Academies (NASAC).

ECOSF, an official involved in the event’s organization, shared that two teams, each representing Pakistan, Iran, Turkiye, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, will be selected to attend the camp and workshop in Chongqing and Urumqi cities. Each team will consist of up to five junior high school science students aged 13 to 15 and up to two teachers.

The event is scheduled to be held from November 5-11, 2023, in two different cities, Chongqing and Urumqi.

The primary objective of the Belt and Road Teenager Maker Camp is to strengthen cross-cultural exchange, promote international understanding, and inspire innovation among the younger generation. It also encourages scientists and science teachers to engage in mutual learning and fulfill their responsibilities in the field of science education.

This event provides students with the opportunity to collaborate with peers from around the world, exchange ideas, and delve into cutting-edge scientific knowledge within the laboratories of top schools in China. They will gain hands-on experience and work together as a team under the guidance of experienced teachers.

The host organizations in China will extend their hospitality, including hotel accommodation, meals, airport transfers, and local transportation, to the participants. However, it’s worth noting that the cost of air travel for the participating teams will be the responsibility of the respective teams themselves.
