On the call of founding chairman Imran Khan, ticket holders and workers of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Sunday are holding their first countrywide power show since May 9.
“We have given clear direction to ticket holders to come out at 2 pm and hold rallies and public meetings in their constituencies. They will address the voters and give a message that PTI will not allow anyone to take its space,” said the party’s Central Information Secretary Raoof Hasan in a statement to a private television channel.
The party is also set to launch its 158-page manifesto, covering all major issues facing Pakistan. This was revealed by party leader Firdous Shamim Naqvi during a virtual convention of candidates. Earlier in the week, founder Imran Khan had instructed all ticket holders to hit the streets and roads nationwide on Sunday. He warned that the tickets of those failing to organize rallies would be canceled.
Subsequently, the former prime minister’s sister spoke to media persons, reiterating the message to party workers and ticket holders through the media.
The announcement has sparked panic among several ticket holders who were reportedly hiding at different locations to avoid potential arrest. There is fear among them that a number may face arrest on Sunday.
