Police have arrested a man accused of being part of a child abuse ring in Qayyumabad, bringing to light disturbing claims of serial sexual assault targeting minors over many years.
The suspect, a fruit vendor who also operated a juice cart, was apprehended by Defence Police with help from locals, according to DIG South, Syed Asad Raza. Investigators say he has allegedly abused both boys and girls for at least a decade.
Evidence & Modus Operandi
Officers recovered a mobile phone and a USB drive from the suspect’s home, containing hundreds of explicit videos involving children. Many victims are still being identified. DIG Raza said the videos were filmed in the suspect’s room.
Investigators believe the suspect first moved to Qayyumabad in 2016 and began luring children from around 2019. He initially opened a grocery store and later used a juice cart to gain trust among community members.
One of the cases filed involves two sisters aged 10 and 12, who reported that the suspect assaulted them and recorded some of the act. Another FIR was filed by a man whose 10-year-old sister complained of similar abuse, allegedly filmed by the suspect. A third complaint came from the family of a 7-year-old girl who had been unusually silent for several days.
A special investigation team has been formed, led by DSP Defence Dr. Saifullah, including women police officers, to follow up the cases and gather evidence. Reports are being submitted daily.
Community Role & Legal Response
The suspect was apprehended after a young victim came into possession of a USB drive containing the explicit content. A video shop owner noticed the graphic material when checking it for music downloads and alerted local residents, who detained the suspect before handing him over to police.
Authorities have registered multiple FIRs following complaints from victims’ families. Medical examinations are underway, and the probe is expected to identify more victims.
DIG Raza said law enforcement is working to unearth further suspects who may have been involved or complicit.
