The United States, through its Army Central Command (US ARCENT), has extended humanitarian assistance for Pakistan’s flood-affected population, The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
According to the military’s media wing, six relief flights have been scheduled to deliver essential supplies, including tents, dewatering pumps, and generators.
The ISPR said that the first flight arrived today, where the US Chargé d’Affaires and Commander US ARCENT formally handed over the consignment to the Pakistan Army.
It said that the goods will be transported to Army Flood Relief Camps for onward distribution. The government and people of Pakistan expressed gratitude to the US government and military for their support during these testing times, the ISPR added.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) in Punjab has said that water levels in major rivers are gradually receding, while urban flooding in Gujrat is being managed through ongoing relief operations.
Speaking to the media, DG PDMA said that breaches in main drains in Gujrat caused urban flooding after heavy rainfall.
“Drainage work is underway, and the situation is expected to improve within the next 12 to 18 hours,” he added.
The PDMA chief said water flow in the Sutlej River is decreasing, with downward trends observed in Kasur, Head Islam, and Sulemanki.
