An anti-terrorism court (ATC) has ordered a 14-day judicial remand for fashion designer Khadija Shah in connection with a case related to the torching of police vehicles at Rahat Bakery Chowk in the Cantonment area during the May 9 violence.
Khadija was presented before the ATC Judge Abher Gul Khan for the hearing of the case registered by Sarwar Road police. Following a brief session, the court directed her to be sent to jail on a 14-day judicial remand, with instructions to produce her upon the completion of the remand period.
In a related development, the Lahore High Court has summoned the Punjab inspector general of police in person by November 3, citing dissatisfaction with the report submitted by the Capital City Police Officer regarding Khadija’s case. The hearing for this matter was presided over by Justice Ali Baqar Najafi.
The case pertains to the Anti-Terrorism Act and involves the torching of police vehicles at Rahat Bakery Chowk, with several Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leaders and workers also named in the case. Further developments in the case are anticipated following the court’s summoning of the inspector general of police.
