Former finance minister Ishaq Dar has voiced optimism regarding the upcoming IMF economic review, which could pave the way for Pakistan to receive a substantial installment of $700 million. Dar emphasized the importance of unity and collaboration among all forces in the country, stating, “No force wanted to fail me. If all forces work together, then the country will move forward.”

Dar also shared his perspective on the exchange rate, stating, “The real value of the dollar is Rs250.” He referred to his earlier stance from September 2022 when he believed that the dollar rate should be below 200. He further expressed his satisfaction with the responsibility demonstrated by interbank systems and exchange companies.

During his remarks, Dar highlighted the actions taken during his tenure to combat dollar smuggling and hoarding, underscoring his commitment to maintaining economic stability.

Addressing the topic of Nawaz Sharif’s return, Dar clarified that it was not part of any ‘guarantee’ and emphasized the need to redirect questions about the state of the economy to the current government. He stressed that they should be held accountable for the economic situation.
