Pakistan’s leg-spinner Abrar Ahmed has been ruled out of the first Test against Australia due to an ankle injury, with doubts looming over his participation in the second Test as well.
In response to this setback, the selection committee has made the decision to send off-spinner Sajid Khan to Australia as Abrar’s replacement. The unanimous choice of Sajid was made in consultation with the team management, considering his expertise in left-arm spin bowling and the presence of several left-handed batters in the Australian team. Sajid has showcased his skills by taking 22 wickets in seven Tests thus far.
Pending the completion of travel arrangements and necessary documentation, Sajid is set to depart for Australia on the earliest available flight.
Sajid Khan’s last Test appearance against Australia dates back to March last year. The first Test of the Pakistan-Australia series is scheduled to take place in Perth, commencing on December 14th. The inclusion of Sajid Khan aims to bolster Pakistan’s bowling attack and fill the void left by Abrar Ahmed’s unfortunate injury.
