The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has appointed former Pakistan leg-spinner and World Cup winner, Mushtaq Ahmed, as the new spin bowling coach for the Bangladesh cricket team.
Mushtaq will commence his role with the team ahead of the preparation camp for the upcoming T20 series against Zimbabwe. He will continue to work with the Tigers until the conclusion of the ICC T20 World Cup 2024 in the West Indies and USA.
With extensive coaching experience, including stints with England, West Indies, and Pakistan, Mushtaq brings a wealth of knowledge to his new position. He previously served as the spin bowling coach for England from 2008 to 2014 and held various coaching roles with Pakistan from 2020 to 2022.
Having claimed 185 wickets in 52 Tests and 161 wickets in 144 ODIs for Pakistan, Mushtaq is well-versed in the art of spin bowling. His notable contributions as a player include his pivotal role in Pakistan’s World Cup victory in 1992.
