The Pakistan athletics team has touched down in China, marking their presence at the ongoing 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou.

With a total of 13 male athletes and 4 female athletes, Pakistan is gearing up to showcase their skills and determination in the highly anticipated athletics competitions of the Asian Games. The team is accompanied by dedicated officials, including Olympian Sadaf Siddiqui, Fayyaz Hussain, Sajjad Mahmood, and Muhammad Sajid, who are instrumental in guiding and supporting the athletes.

Olympian Sadaf Siddiqui, a prominent figure in the team’s leadership, expressed gratitude towards the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) and the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) for facilitating the participation of a substantial number of Pakistani athletes in the Asian Games. She conveyed her optimism regarding the national athletes, emphasizing their potential to bring pride to the country through their exceptional performances.

Siddiqui also praised China for their meticulous arrangements as hosts of the Games, ensuring a conducive environment for the athletes to excel.

The Asian Games athletics competition is scheduled to run from September 29 to October 5. Pakistan’s premier javelin thrower, Arshad Nadeem, along with Mohammad Yasir, will represent the nation in the javelin throw event, aiming for outstanding results.

Additional athletes, including Gohar Shahbaz, Shajar Abbas (competing in the 100 and 200 meters races), Muhammad Asad ur Rehman (400m), Waqas Akbar (800m), Muhammad Akhtar (5000m), Farhan Ilyas, Abid Razzaq (participating in the 110m and 400m hurdles), Sohail Amir (10000m race), Jafar Ashraf (pole vault), Muhammad Afzal (Long Jump), Shehroz Khan (High Jump), Tameen Khan (100M), Ghazala Ramzan (100 Meters Hurdles), Rabila Faraq (1500M), and Farhat Bano (10,000 Meters Race), are all set to compete with determination in pursuit of medals.

However, it’s notable that two female athletes, Sahib e Asra and Arooj Kiran, from the Athletics Federation of Pakistan (AFP), did not travel with the team for the Games.
