Torrential rain, accompanied by light snowfall and thunderstorms, marked the advent of the winter season in the Hazara division on Tuesday. This weather phenomenon brought both joy and challenges to the region, impacting daily life and agricultural activities.

The picturesque Babusar Top and the hills of the Naran valley witnessed the second spell of the season, and this abrupt change in weather conditions led to the closure of the Mansehra Naran Jalkhad (MNJ) road from Jalkhad to Babusar Top. The adverse weather conditions posed risks for travelers and necessitated precautionary measures.

The onset of heavy rain commenced late in the evening, stretching from Haripur to Kohistan, causing a noticeable drop in temperatures. Cities like Abbottabad, Mansehra, Battagram, and Kohistan experienced heavy rain, accompanied by frequent lightning and thunderstorms, compelling residents to seek shelter indoors.

The meteorology department has issued forecasts indicating the likelihood of light snowfall in the upper regions, including Babusar Top and Naran, over the next few days. This weather forecast raises concerns and preparations among locals and authorities to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.

In response to the sudden shift in weather conditions, especially in Abbottabad, Mansehra, and the upper regions, people expressed their happiness over the much-needed precipitation. The rain not only brought relief from the prolonged dry spell but also helped in curbing the outbreak of seasonal diseases. Locals embraced the winter atmosphere and savored traditional delicacies such as soup, chapli kabab, and fresh fish, adding warmth and flavor to the season.

Farmers in the region also welcomed the timely rain as it promised to facilitate the sowing of new crops following the maize harvest. The moisture in the soil would be beneficial for crop growth, providing hope for a successful planting season. However, farmers were advised to take necessary precautions to safeguard their crops and livelihoods against potential weather-related challenges.

As the winter season unfolds in the Hazara division, residents remain vigilant, enjoying the blessings of precipitation while also preparing for the unique challenges this season brings.
