Former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, leader of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), has left London after four years of self-imposed exile.
He departed for Saudi Arabia for Umrah, then Dubai, where he plans to address a gathering at Minar-e-Pakistan on October 21 to outline his agenda for the upcoming elections. He was seen off by staff, family, and party workers as he left his Avenfield flats, ending his exile.
His return flight to Pakistan is scheduled for October 21 on a chartered plane named “Umeed-e-Pakistan,” accompanied by party members and journalists. Ishaq Dar, a senior PML-N leader, stated that Nawaz Sharif is expected to follow standard legal procedures upon his return and focus on economic recovery in his political narrative.
Sharif initially left Pakistan in November 2019 for medical treatment and chose not to return, managing party affairs from London. This marks his second exile term, the first being following a military coup in 1999.
